Warner Bros. has once again changed the Mickey 17 release date for its highly-anticipated sci-fi comedy which hails from Oscar-winning filmmaker Bong Joon-ho. The movie was originally slated for an April 18, 2025, theatrical release date.
“The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living,” reads the film’s official synopsis.
When is the new Mickey 17 release date?
Mickey 17 is now scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 7, 2025, switching with Ryan Coogler’s Michael B. Jordan-led vampire movie Sinners. The film will also be debuting in the same month as other high-profile movies like Disney’s live-action Snow White and the action thriller Novocaine.
Based on the 2022 novel Mickey7, the movie is directed by Bong Joon-ho (Parasite, Memories of Murder) from a screenplay written by Bong and Edward Ashton. This marks Bong’s latest English-language feature after over a decade since directing the Snowpiercer starring Chris Evans. It has been given an R-rating by the MPA for “violent content, language throughout, sexual content, and drug material.”
The cast includes Robert Pattinson (The Batman), Naomi Ackie (Blink Twice), Steven Yeun (Beef, Minari), Toni Collette (Hereditary), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Endgame, Poor Things), Holliday Grainger (The Capture), Anamaria Vartolomei (Happening), Thomas Turgoose (This Is England), and more. The film is produced by Bong, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dooho Choi, with Brad Pitt, Jesse Ehrman, Peter Dodd, and Marianne Jenkins serving as executive producers.
