Pune: Wife of murdered BJP MLC’s relative arrested as mastermind

The Pune Police Crime Branch arrested another suspect on Wednesday in connection with the kidnapping and brutal murder of Satish Wagh, a relative of BJP MLC Yogesh Tilekar.

The investigation has revealed shocking details, with police naming Wagh’s wife as the mastermind behind the crime.

According to Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, the primary accused, Atish Jadhav, confessed that Wagh’s wife paid Rs 5 lakh as “supari” (contract) for the murder. Acting on this revelation, police arrested her on Wednesday evening.

“Jadhav admitted to receiving Rs 5 lakh from Wagh’s wife to carry out the murder. The investigation has established her role as the mastermind behind the kidnapping and killing,” the police commissioner said.

Wagh was kidnapped during his morning walk in Pune’s Yawat area around 5:30 am on December 9.

CCTV footage captured the incident, leading police to arrest the first suspect within 48 hours. Wagh’s body was later found in Shindevane Ghat near Pune, stabbed nearly 70 times.

The police have arrested three of the four suspects so far, including Pawan Sharma from Dhule, Navnath Gural from Fursungi, and Jadhav, who was arrested in Dharashiv. The search for the remaining accused is ongoing.
